Currently the Australian Open is happening in the tennis world. I usually follow Venus and Serena Williams as they play. Unfortunately, Venus had to retire from this competition due to an injury. And Serena wasn't able to play at all because she had injured her foot and needs time to heal properly.
I haven't been able to see a lot of matches, but it appears as though the US is falling behind some other players. But it is great to watch athletes from all over to apply their skills. I am impressed with a man from Canada, Milos Raonic who has made it very far. I have not seen many Canadian tennis players so it is nice to see a variety of countries represented in the final rounds.
I have "played" tennis a few times. I am not very good because I don't have a lot of endurance, and the past few years either Phil or I have been injured so we were not able to play during the summer. But maybe we can play this summer!
The next big sporting event in America is the Super Bowl. It is on February 6 and the two teams that play are Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers. I do not care too much about football, but I've been a little more interested in it this year. I think I will root for the Pittsburgh Steelers, I used to work with a woman who came from Pittsburgh and her enthusiasm for the Steelers rubbed off on me. I think the biggest sporting event in American sports for me is Baseball World Series in the fall. For International sporting event I would say tennis.

I have always wonder why the big football match is known as Super Bowl. Coz 'to bowl' means I am going to the bowling to bowl right? I was puzzled at first. But oh well, some words are just like this :)
The Asian Football/Soccer is on too. Today is the last day which means it is the finals between Australia and Japan.
I will make an effort to research abit on the host and Asian Cup 2011
By the way, the host is in Qatar.
The Super Bowl is tomorrow, and Phil's brother is cooking a bunch of Mexican food and we are having a get-together at Phil's mom's house. however, I have been battling flu and cold symptoms since Thursday, so I might have to stay home sick :(.
I am rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, although I was hoping the Indianapolis Colts would have made it to the Super Bowl (of course it would be great to see Detroit Lions go to the Super Bowl, but they have had a horrible past few years).
Looks like Japan won the AFC Asian Cup, yes? 1 to 0? I found a sports website but sometimes have trouble understanding sports terms.. I have to get better!
