Ok, I will admit--
I am a worrywart.
I've always been a worrier. I've always felt that if I thought enough about something, I could fix every problem and make it go away.
But that's not the case! So I am going to list things I would tell a friend or relative who came to me and asked, "How do I reduce stress and worry?" That way, maybe if I see it in writing and know that my friends see it, I will take my own advice!
(is it just me, or does anyone ever feel like they believe it is easier for others to follow your own advice than yourself, haha!)
1. Talk to someone - sometimes it helps just to spill everything out. After hearing the words come out of your mouth, you realize how silly your worries are or you get an idea of how to approach a situation.
2. Write in a journal - either online (like this one) or a personal journal you keep next to your bed. I have a journal next to my bed where I write about my worries and regrets. It does help, but I would like to be more positive and write about positive so it doesn't become a nasty "worry book!"
3. Exercise - this morning I amped up my exercise and felt a lot less sorry for myself than before!
4. Write down all the things that are positive in your life - I should do this more often. I feel bad when I worry about stupid little things at work when there are millions of people starving in other countries. I have shelter, food, a job (even though I don't always like it), etc. What really do I have to complain about?
5. Write letters to other people - I love this one! I write to Lim, my grandparents, Phil's great-grandma and a few others by email. It gives me something to look forward to!
6. Try a new hobby - I picked up sketching a few months ago. Did one good sketch but haven't committed to a second - maybe I will try sketching tomorrow night when I'm home.
7. Be sure to keep a good diet - often if I am too stressed I don't eat or drink enough, or I eat a lot of candy. Plenty of water, fruits and veggies are the trick!
Anyway, those are just some things to think about if you're stressed! What are your tips for when you're stressed?? Everyone is different!

We share the same thoughts, just few days ago you asked me about writer's block and you mentioned about stress. I thought of writing about that but you got ahead of me! ;) Nice one! As for me, I do not really spill my worries to anyone but to those I want to talk to. I am abit picky on who I want to consult. I love exercising, especially yoga, which encourages you to stretch your body and mind. Sort of forces you to think balance, be balance too. Am not attending any yoga classes, but just follow the moves intructed by the yoga magazine.
I use yoga DVDs and magazines instead of going to a yoga class. Yoga classes are expensive around here, but the DVDs work great. Rodney Yee is a good DVD instructor and his wife Colleen also has good DVDs.
Do you practice yoga everyday? I try to do those basic stretches once a week. Watching TV helps too. Playing with your animals, if you are an animal lover helps too. I used to play with the doggies outside the house when I am in KL but since I moved here, I don't get any chance to do it anymore. We should worry less and spend our energy on something productive!!
I just practiced yoga last night, it was very refreshing! Hoping to do some more tonight before I pick up Phil from his dad's house.
You are right. I want to make a commitment to worry less so that my mind can be free to do more positive things! Thank you for your encouragement, I believe it will help me!
Why, thank you. I usually stretch my legs after I come out from shower. I stretch while the commercials are on TV. Jun will give me this alien look while I stretch. He doesn't stretch and I am trying him to stretch because its good for the body after all! I bet everything begins at home. If you get someone to change for the better, and only one person, its already a good thing right :) Does Phil stretches?
That is a good idea, to stretch throughout the day! I've also read that during TV commercials to do jumping jacks or squats or ab workouts do help stay fit. Phil doesn't stretch too much. Maybe I will try to encourage him to stretch more! Stretching now will keep our bodies fit in the future!
You bet! I am also trying to get my sister to walk! She doesn't like walking for exercise...LOL
